Graco Recall Strollers Due To Strangulation Risk

Graco has recalled 2 million of its Quattro and MetroLite brand strollers because of strangulation deaths of 4 babies.

WebMD reports:

The danger is that babies, especially infants under age 12 months, can slip through the opening between the stroller tray and the seat bottom. In these strollers, the opening is big enough for the baby's torso to slip through, but not big enough for the baby's head. Infants thus caught by the neck can strangle.

The said deaths occurred between 2003 and 2005 and Graco was levied a record civil penalty in 2005 for failing to report problems to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The strollers involved in the current product recall were sold between November 2000 and December 2007.

If you have purchased one of these strollers, you should immediately stop using it and should contact Graco at 877-828-4046 for a free repair kit.
